Who can obtain a burn permit?

Only residents living in approved areas can obtain a permit. Permits are conditional and may be revoked at any time. You must be 18 years of age or older.

How can I obtain a burn permit?

You may register online using this website, or you can visit us in person.

What can I burn?

Please only burn wood, wood by-products (cardboard, paper etc.) or leaves.

Do I need a permit?

If you want to have an open-air fire (bonfire, fire pit, brush pile etc.) then yes, you need an approved permit.

Is there a cost for a burning permit?

No, permits are free of charge.

What if I don't have a permit?

Any person who fails to obtain a fire permit or fails to comply with the bylaw (17-35) will be subject to a fine and will be held responsible for all expenses incurred for investigating, controlling and extinguishing any fire set or left to burn.

Yes. Call the burn permit line @ 613-706-4004 to activate your burning permit.
